Suspended Scaffold Systems for Complex Construction Projects
Suspended scaffolding — also known as beam scaffolding or suspended access systems — provides working platforms that are hung from or supported by a structure above, rather than rising from ground level. This is used on high-rise buildings, large industrial structures, bridges and other situations where a conventional ground-supported scaffold is not practical or possible.
Suspended Scaffold Applications
- High-rise commercial building maintenance and refurbishment
- Large industrial structures and plant maintenance
- Bridge and infrastructure access
- Buildings over water or other inaccessible ground conditions
- Spanning over conservatories and fragile roofs to access walls above
- Beam scaffolds providing access where ground obstruction prevents conventional standards
Full Design & Documentation
Suspended and beam scaffold systems require careful engineering design, structural calculations and detailed method statements. We provide the complete documentation package for all suspended scaffold installations, working with structural engineers where required for complex projects.

FAQ
Common Questions
What is the difference between suspended and cantilever scaffolding?
Cantilever scaffolding projects outwards from a supporting structure or anchor point. Suspended scaffolding hangs down from a structure above. Both are used where conventional ground-supported scaffolding is not possible, but they work in opposite directions.
Can you do suspended scaffolding over conservatories?
Yes — beam scaffolding spanning over a conservatory or fragile roof is one of the most common applications. The scaffold stands on either side of the conservatory and spans across it, supporting a working platform above without putting any load on the fragile structure below.
